A patrol car had been spattered with paint while parked outs1de Old Main. Under a long-standing university policy, the residents of the donn were to have been assessed $286 for the damages. Utility costs force dorm rate increase NAU dormitory rates will increase by five per cent next fall to meet higher utility and maintenance costs, said NAU President J. Lawrence Walkup. The Arizona Board of Regents approved the action at its Saturday meeting. Dormitory rates next fall will range from $154-$210 a semester, and $61-$143 per month for married housing. "The rates have been raised abnost entirely becaR..<~e of higher utility and maintenance costs," Walkup said. The regents also approved a reduction of the absentia fee for graduates who cannot attend commencement from $7.50 to $5. The board approved two contracts. Halec Construction Co. was granted $599,900 for the expansion and improvement of the campus fire protection system. Ireland construction Co. was low bidder with $226,006 for construction of new streets and parDilg. The board also approved t.Qe extension of completion date of the NAU Enspbere for 8 days. The board rejected a plea by Feminists Uruted for Action to dispense btrth control on campus.
