'Moor Bern' To Be Staged July 22 And 23 The Arizona Playmakere’ sum-ro„ production “ M oor B om ” will ** ,,resented Tuesday and Wednesday July 22 and 23, at 8:15 p. m. in Ashurst Auditorium. ••jlmir B om ” is a historical-literary play by Dan Totheroh. The glory is told in five parts and tells of the home life o f the three Bronte sisters, their brother and their father. liaipiPj. Holly, director o f dramatics here at Arizona State College, is well pleased with the way the play is coming along and promises a fine dramatic production. Mrs. Rosetta M. McDonald, well known portrait painter here in Flagstaff, is finishing up a large portrait o f the three Bronte sisters which \ViUJbe an im portant item in the settling o f the play. Mrs. McDonald used Cecil Richardson, Louella Pulliam and Betty Bums, who play the Bronte Bisters in the production, as-m odels. Librarian Attends Annual Conference Library Association Miss Althea Irene Ragsdale, li-brarian/ here at Arizona State CoU lege, attended the 66th annual con*' ference of the American Library AssociatfoA in San Francisco on June 29 to July 5. ' T h e conference was held in the Civic Auditorium and consisted o f four general meetings plus meetings o f different sections. which were divided.according to interests. - ' ‘ ■ ■- Besides the general meetings, Miss Ragsdale attended meetings of the association o f college reference libraries. One conference was held on the campus o f the University of California at Berkeley and members o f the conference were also taken on a tour o f the library of Stanford University. Miss Ragsdale ordered a set of Ihe senior Encyclopedia Britan-nIra "and also" a ~junior set plus a new Britamiica atlas. Miss Ragsdale hopes to have all these sets in the college library for the start o f the fall term. Veazeys Will Move To Prescott End Of Term .Mr. and M rs..Young A. Veazey Jr. plan to move to Prescott at the end of the summer session, where Mr*. Veazy will tench in the Washington Elementary School. Mrs. Veazey is the form er Peggy McCray o f Tucson. The couple were married June 21. She sang leading role in the streamlined version of the opera “ Tosca,” which was presented 57 tiroes in Southern California cities, and she has worked with many little (heater groups. Original architect specifications called for a seatinfc capacity of 3,000 or more. It is planned to have the stadium ready for use during the coming football season if at all possible. Everyone in cordially invited to attend, and make this one o f the mast successful dances o f the Burner session. The Committee on arrangements has planned, besides the regular social dances, to feature the Polka, Schottische, Varsouvienne, a n d Rye waltz during tfie evening. At 10:15 p. m. a floor show of dance numbers- wil take place. This ill include an especially arranged exhibition of square dance figures including “ Take-A-Peek” , “ Birdie in a Cage” , "Turkey W ing” and “ Shoot That Pretty Girl” . They were Mrs. Betty Decke r Cummings, pianist, and Misa Mary Sykes, mezzo-soprano, both of Flagstaff. Mrs. Cummings is a student of Miss Helene Robinson, and Miss Sykes studies under Miss Christine Honeck. Both are well known to I II the Flagstaff public as talented wThe Worship o f God in Nature .. musicians. Mrs. Cummings during the past school year was supervisor o f music for the Flagstaff elementary schools. She is a graduate student at the college this summer. Miss Sykes ik a senior student and will complete her undergraduate work this summer. She was featured as solofst and was a member of thf girls trio on the A Cappella Choir tou r last spring. A it. by ......................Pannella Excerpts from “ Morning, Noon and “ Poet and Peasain,’ friday Dance Will Feature Fun And Show FUN AND informality will be the key theme o f this Friday night’s dance in Ashurst Hall from 8:30 to 12:00 with Kurt Miller and his College orchefitra. Everyone in cordially invited to attend, and make this one o f the mast successful dances o f the Burner session. The Committee on arrangements has planned, besides the regular social dances, to feature the Polka, Schottische, Varsouvienne, a n d Rye waltz during tfie evening. At 10:15 p. m. a floor show of dance numbers- wil take place. This ill include an especially arranged exhibition of square dance figures including “ Take-A-Peek” , “ Birdie in a Cage” , "Turkey W ing” and “ Shoot That Pretty Girl” . These will bes called by Jim Jackson, square dance instructor and caller. Another featured number is the Banio Bonio Philippine Dance. It is also rumored on the campus that an all men’s cast will feature an original number especially arranged to the popular tune Zip- A-De-Doo-Dah. College students participating in the program include Ruth Stock, Allen Sims, Jean and Ernest Mick-elson, Rosalie and Troy Fincher, Jim Jackson, Eugene and Virginia Lovett, Isabelle Fernandez, Don Pace, and Cornelia and Walter Knox. Graduate Student Presents Violin And Piano Concert Miss Marycarol Pryor, graduate student at Arizftna State College at Flagstaff, will be presented by the college music department in a piano and violin recital Thursday evening, July 17, at 8 o’clock in Ashurst Auditorium. i The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Pryor of Flagstaff, Miss Pryor received her B.A. in Education degree last spring, with majors in music and elementary education. Dr. Pryor is head of the commerce and economies department at the college. Misa Pryor 1>lans to teach next fall. The public is invited to attend the recijai. Lh And Robinson Have Joint Concert Two popular advanced music students were presented in a joint piano .add vocal recital Monday evening, July 14, in Ashurst Auditorium by the music department o f Arftofia State CoIRge at Flagstaff. They were Mrs. Betty Decke r Cummings, pianist, and Misa Mary Sykes, mezzo-soprano, both of Flagstaff. Mrs. Cummings is a student of Miss Helene Robinson, and Miss Sykes studies under Miss Christine Honeck. Both are well known to I II the Flagstaff public as talented wThe Worship o f God in Nature .. musicians. Mrs. Cummings during the past school year was supervisor o f music for the Flagstaff elementary schools. She is a graduate student at the college this summer. Miss Sykes ik a senior student and will complete her undergraduate work this summer. She was featured as solofst and was a member of thf girls trio on the A Cappella Choir tou r last spring.
