Description |
BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY: This research trip in July of 1960 was one of many sponsored by the Museum of Northern Arizona, under contract with the National Park Service. A program called the 'Upper Colorado River Basin Archaeological Salvage Program' (soon referred to as simply 'the Glen Canyon Project') was instituted in 1957 in order to excavate, collect, record, and map cultural and natural resources data in the area that would be lost to the coming Glen Canyon Dam and Reservoir. Boatman Frank Wright took Lex Lindsay (archaeologist); Tad Nichols (photographer); and assistant excavators Cal Cummings, Mike Moseley, and Dan Perin on this particular expedition. Mrs. Lindsay and assistant archaeologist, Beth Galligan, also appear with equipment and supplies at Kane Creek. |
