Continental Divide Trading Post. This building was a Stuckey's store. Continental Divide (I-40 exit 47) is the eastbound beginning of older Route 66 alignments in New Mexico that extend east to Mesita. Westbound, travelers must use I-40 to Exit 36 to take Route 66 alignments to Arizona. Continental Divide is the highest point on post-1937 Route 66 (7,263 ft.) in New Mexico. August 2004.
