BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY: During 1927 and 1928, Clyde Kluckhohn led two expeditions to the area around Wild Horse Mesa in the Navajo Indian Reservation. He later wrote Beyond the Rainbow, which describes these expeditions. James J. Hanks was a member of both expeditions and acted as the primary photographer for the expeditions. The group included Lauri Sharp, Bill Gernon, and Nel Hagen. All were undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin at the time of the trips. |
