, the
Nevills
family
and
friends
gathered
at
Navajo
Bridge
in
Marble
Canyon
for the
dedication
of a
plaque
in
memory
of
Norm
and
Doris
Nevills
,
who
both
died
in a
plane
crash
in
September
of
1949
.
Several
friends
attended
the
memorial
ceremony
after
a '
Dedication
Trip
'
through
Glen
Canyon
, from
Hite
Ferry
to
Lees
Ferry
,
July
1
to
July
10
,
1952
. This
river
trip
included
not
only
three
regular
boats
, but also
one
Folbot
kayak
, in
which
several
of the
boatmen
and
passengers
took
turns
. '
Folboting
is
fun--but
hard
work
in
turbulent
water
or
wind,
'
writes
Nichols
.
Two
of the
significant
hikes
during
this
trip
were
through
Forbidding
Canyon
and
Bridge
Canyon
to
Rainbow
Bridge
(where
Tad
was '
number
7985
' in the
register)
, and also
up
Lake
Canyon
to the
cliff-dwellings
located
there.
Tad
records
that the
cliff
house
had '
interesting
wall
structure
with
decoration
pattern
formed
with
potsherds
and
finger
marks.
