Description |
CONTENT: From album 3, ca.1900-1920 This photograph documents the Hyde family early years. BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY: Glen Rollin Hyde is best known for his 1928 disappearance in the Grand Canyon. He and wife Bessie Louise Haley Helmick Hyde took a unique honeymoon trip down the Green River from Utah through to the Colorado River of the Grand Canyon. They were to finish their journey in Needles, California but they never reached their destination. Subsequent search parties found only their sweep scow, camera, Bessie's diary, and the possessions they had brought with them. No one ever saw or heard from them again. |
