Description	BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY: Josef Muench was born in Germany in 1904 and came to the United States as a gardener when he was 24 years old. His passion had been photography from an early age and upon moving to the West in 1930 he quickly became a pioneer color landscape photographer. His work dominated the pages of Arizona Highways Magazine throughout the 1940s and 1950s, and he contributed to many other publications for more than 50 years. Josef Muench died in 1998 at the age of 94, leaving a son (David) and a grandson (Marc) to carry on his photographic legacy.
